Hi, I bought hp envy laptop and on the fifth time of using it the screen went black and wouldn't change. I can see it's charging/charged and Power LED works, but the screen stays black. 08:25 AM **Preface** Been building and repairing PC's for nearly 20 years... Got a Chromebook 11-v025wm I'm working on. Without warning, the screen goes black (with the laptop still on and power button alight). Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details. I have no way of testing another screen on it to see if I am actually getting something from the OS. Refer this article to further troubleshoot black screen issues with your PC. Hi, My daughter has a Chromebook about 18 months old, this morning when she turned it on their were lots of vertical stripes down the screen, what looks like an open white page on half the screen and a black spot. I have been looking for a solution to this issue for 2 years and we have hundreds of HP Chromebooks with this being the most common problem. It is a terrific place to find answers and tips! I understand that Chromebook is not turning on and also see that you have done multiple troubleshooting steps to fix it, I will be delighted to assist you here. 11:11 AM Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen. I can see from this forum that there are hundreds of people with the same problem looking for answers. A new thing I found was if I disconnect/reconnect the battery, then connect the keyboard and press the Power Button, it won't turn on. No amount of button pressing or clicking of the mouse will reactive (wake) the screen. Pressing the Power Button causes the Power LED to come on and do the 15 on/5 off cycle as before, Opened the laptop up and disconnected the battery for 30 minutes. Plugged back into the board and same result of Power LED 15 on/5 off, Checked all cables and re-seated with battery disconnected. If it does not work, I am sending you a private message. At this point, either the screen or motherboard has gone bad. No amount of button pressing or clicking of the mouse will reactive (wake) the screen. But with many doing it (once a fotnight approx) it makes me think there's a bigger fault with the model/software? Please check your Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile. If it were just one laptop, I'd think it was a fault. 01:27 PM Acts like it is stuck in a sleep state. Didn't find what you were looking for? - edited I know at least it's getting power as the power LED light comes on when opening the lid or pressing the power button, but I don't get any backlight or nothing from the screen. 06-28-2018 They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. 01:54 PM I am sending you a private message. Many of them are suffering with a random black screen of death. Re-connected battery, nothing changed. I think the customer doesn't want to put any money into it, so I'll just leave it as is. The private message doesn't offer solutions so is this something we just have to accept and buy new chromebooks? I also tried the trick of disconnecting battery, plug in ac adapter and then plug in battery. Since your model is just a month old give us a call. † The opinions expressed above are the personal opinions of the authors, not of HP.
