The top was solid mahogany but the sides and back were laminate mahogany. i've looked for info on this guitar for years, i got one about 10 years ago. One just sold on eBay for $300. I have had it set up three times in the 25 years I have been playing it. As far as quality of construction, I've always found Japanese guitars to be as good or better than those made in the US. They often need setup work, take it to a luthier and have him adjust the action.
